Choosing a Color Scheme
By Laurie Smith

Cardstock is a great backdrop for your pages-use solids to begin with. Pattern paper backgrounds make it more difficult because they usually distract from the photos and you pretty much have to matte every photo on the page. Choose one or two colors to be the background and one or two complementary colors to accent. You can incorporate patterned paper into your layout by using it as an accent —as a border, mat on your title or journaling block.

Prepackaged papers are a great to start choosing color schemes. They are available in coordinating color assortments, so if you like the assortment, you pretty much know that it goes together!
