Try a Photo Filter to get an instant old fashioned "grunge"
photo:
Open the photo you plan
to use (File > Open).
Click on the middle icon at the top
of the Artwork and Effects palette.
Choose "Photo Effects" from
the menu on the left and "Image Effects" from the menu
on the right.
Double click on the "Old Photo"
icon.
To soften the effect
of "Old Photo" on important areas, such as faces:
Click on the original photo layer in the Layers palette to select
it.
Double click on the "Tint Sepia" filter in the Artwork
and Effects palette.
Click on the top layer to select it (the "Old Photo"
layer).
Select the Eraser tool and choose a soft-edged brush from the
Brush Picker menu in the Options Bar.
Reduce the opacity of your brush to around 30% in the Options
Bar by moving the Opacity slider to the left.
Brush wherever you want to reduce the effects of the "Old
Photo" filter. The more you brush over the same area, the more
will get erased.
