Use a type outline to make your page look elegant:

1. Open the photo you plan to use (File > Open).
2. Press the letter "D" to reset your Color Chips to the default colors of black and white.
3. Select the Type tool and choose the font and size you want to use.
4. Click once on the page and type the word you want. Click on the check mark in the Options Bar to accept it.
5. If you want to rotate the type, choose Image > Rotate > Layer 900 left (or right).
6. Get the Move tool and move the type where you want it on the photograph.
7. You can still edit the type by getting the Type tool, highlighting the type, and making any changes. Make sure you're completely satisfied with the size, position, and style of the type before moving on to the next step.
8. Ctrl click (Mac: Cmd click) on the thumbnail of the type layer to get a selection outline.
9. Click on the Create a new layer icon at the top of the Layers palette.
10. Choose Edit > Stroke (Selection) Outline" from the Menu Bar.
11. When the Stroke dialog box comes up, enter the width you want (I used 8 pixels). Choose "Inside" for the location, and click on the Color Box to change the color, if necessary. Click okay.
12. Choose Select > Deselect
13. Click on the eye of the original Type layer to hide the word, and you'll be left with an elegant outline.
