Here's how to create a title that looks like glass:
- Open a photo that isn't too cluttered (File > Open). This works best on areas of graduated color like a sunset or where you have fewer colors and patterns like a photo of the beach or the sky.
- Get the type tool and type your title. Click once on the page to accept it.
- In the Layers palette, click on the original photo layer to select it.
- Press Ctrl J (Mac: Cmd J) to duplicate the photo layer.
- Click and drag the new photo layer above the type layer, which will cover up the type.
- Choose Layer > Group with Previous. Nothing will appear to happen.
- Click on the type layer in the Layers palette to select it and open the Effects palette.
- Click on the Layer style icon, open the menu and select Bevels.
- Double click on the Simple Emboss Bevel to apply it to the type. (Hold your cursor over a bevel to see its name.) When you apply the Bevel, your type will suddenly appear again.
- If you want to adjust the bevel, double click on the effects icon that now appears on the type layer in the Layers palette.
- When the Style Settings dialog box appears, make your adjustments, and click okay.
