Watercolor Background Paper

Use watercolor techniques to create a unique background for extra special photographs.

Materials Needed:
  • Sakura Koi Watercolors
  • Sakura Glue Pen
  • Sakura Micron Pigment Pen
  • Watercolor paper (8 ½ x 11)
  • White Chipboard Letter
  • Ruler
  • Adhesive

Instructions:

1.  Write the caption with the glue pen.  Let dry.
2.  Using the photograph as a guide for choice of colors, paint overlapping strips of colors from side to side across the watercolor paper.  Keep the colors wet to optimize blending where the colors meet. Set aside to dry.

Note:  The glue will act as a resist and the caption will appear white when painted over.

3.  Using a ruler and pigment pen draw two parallel lines 1/8” apart around the paper about ¾” from the edge.
4.  Add additional journaling around the frame if desired.
5.  Color the chipboard letter with watercolors.
6.  Adhere the photograph and the chipboard letter to the center of the background paper.
