Materials Needed:
  • Kaleidoscope Collections: Kaleidoscope Kreator™ 2.0
  • Digital or scanned photo
  • Inkjet printer
  • Flat matte inkjet photo paper (2 sheets)
  • Circle cutter
  • Colored felt-tip marker (to match colors in the kaleidoscope)
  • Foam adhesive
  • 11” x 5.5” cardstock (for card base)
  • Permanent (flat) adhesive

Instructions:
  1. Open digital photo in Kaleidoscope Kreator 2.0 (File>Open Image).  Click on the wedge button in the toolbar to choose the Lotus (12) template shape.  Move the photo around in the workspace to create a kaleidoscope design to your liking.
  2. Click on the Select Background Color icon and choose a background color that coordinates with your kaleidoscope design.  Click OK.  You will see the color appear both in the thumbnail preview as well as the larger preview (after clicking on the Preview button.).
  3. File>Print Kaleidoscope. Enter 5.5 in the inches field.  Check the Print Margins box and set the Margin Size to 0.25”.  Uncheck the other boxes and then click OK.
  4. In the printer dialog that appears next, choose your printer and set it for matte photo paper.  Click OK to print.
  5. Still in Kaleidoscope Kreator 2.0, click on the wedge button in the toolbar to choose the Square (12) template shape.  Move the photo around in the workspace to create a different kaleidoscope design to your liking.  Focus on the center of the kaleidoscope since this will be the part that shows the most in the finished card.  Click on the Select Background Color icon and click on the Default button.  Then click OK.
  6. File>Print Kaleidoscope.  Enter 5.5 in the inches field.  Uncheck all other boxes (including the Print Margins box).  Click OK and again set the printer for matte photo paper.
  7. Using a circle cutter, cut a 5.5” circle from the printed lotus-shaped kaleidoscope.  (Center the circle cutter in the center of the kaleidoscope.)  Then cut the circle into quarters.
  8. Cut out the square kaleidoscope.
  9. Run a colored marker around the outside edges of the cut kaleidoscopes to “finish” the edges.
  10. Apply foam adhesive to the back of the circle quarters, then adhere the quarters to the corners of the square kaleidoscope (as shown).
  11. Fold cardstock in half to form a 5.5” square card base and use permanent adhesive to apply square kaleidoscope to the front of the card.
