  8 ½ x 11 yellow polka dot paper
  12 x 12 blue cardstock
  12 x 12 white cardstock
  Prism paper
  Cake pattern
Variety of primary colored pattern paper, cardstock or scraps
Confetti punch or small rectangular hand punch
  Tinsel
  Scissors
  Pencil

Instructions
  1. Trim yellow embossed paper down to 11 ½” x 11 ½” and layer onto blue cardstock background paper. Cut a wide semi-circle from the right hand side of yellow polka dot paper and layer over embossed paper to complete background for page.
  2. Enlarge cake pattern to fit page. Cut out pieces to use as a template for paper piecing technique. Trace various parts of cake onto white paper, plate onto red, candles onto pattern paper or cardstock and flames onto prism paper. The words “Happy Birthday” can be made from paper piecing, lettering template or stickers. After tracing parts onto paper, cut out with scissors and reassemble to create the cake and decorations.
  3. Using the confetti punch, punch out decorative confetti from scrap paper and adhere to top of cake. Accent “flames” with tinsel.
  4. Add photos and journaling.
