Computer Tips: Using Microsoft Word text boxes as titles for your
pages |

Set your paper orientation to landscape
in your page set up, so that you can stretch that title to about
11” on a letter size sheet. Perfect if you plan to print then
cut out and glue to a 12x12 page. |

Click on Insert/Text Box |
|
|
Draw a text box of an appropriate size
doe the title. |
|
|
Then format your text. Type in your
title, highlight it, click on Format/Font at the top and select
a font, font style, and size. |
|
|
Under Color, use the drop-down arrow
to select a color; shadow, emboss, etc. for additional effects. |
|
|
Next format the box itself. Click on
the box, choose Format/Text box from the top menu. To set the background,
or fill, of the text box, use the drop-down arrow to select a color. |

|
You can even fill in the text box with
a pattern or texture provided in the software. Just click on Fill
Effects, or you can use a photo of your own as the background. |
|
|
Lastly, text box border also has options.
To set a border, select a color under Line in the Format Text box.
Under Dashed, select a style. Change the weight from the default
to as thick as you would like. |
