Is there someone in your family that just refuses to smile for pictures, no matter what you do? Did you take the perfect group shot only to look closely and see that Grandpa Fred is the only one who isn’t smiling? Here’s a quick way to fix the frowns in your photos using Photoshop Elements!

1. Open your picture in Photoshop Elements.

2. Go to Filter | Distort | Liquify.

3. Zoom in and center your subject so that you can see her mouth.

4. Make sure that the Warp Tool is selected, and that the brush is about the size of the subject’s cheek, then simply click and drag the corners of the mouth slightly upward.

5. Here we used a brush size of 360.

6. You’ll want to make small changes, and perhaps move your brush away from the corner of the mouth a bit to continue the smile.

7. When you’re satisfied with the result, click OK, and enjoy your subject’s now smiling face!

You can even use this technique to make your pets smile, or make your nose a bit smaller, or widen your eyes! You can go too far with this effect, but have fun playing!
