Photo
Tole by Julie McGuffee
Paper Tole was a popular paper craft
about 30 years ago. Dimensional pictures were created using 3 copies
of the same card, or picture. The same techniques can be used with
photographs with some fun results.

Remember to choose colors of paper and embellishments
that compliment your photographs. Colors chosen here reflect the
colors and theme of my photographs, but may not be the best color
choices for yours.
Instructions
I made three 4 x 6 copies of an original photograph
on the Kodak Picture Maker at my local drug store and one 8 x 10
copy of a photograph I chose for the background.
1.
Apply adhesive to the 8 x 10 photograph then mat with
tan colored paper. Trim around the edge with the deckle scissors.
Apply adhesive to the matted photograph then place on the green
cardstock. This will form the background.
2.
Silhouette the main features of the photograph. In
my sample I cut around the post, Jennie, David and the Wolf. Place
on the background photo with foam dots.
3.
Silhouette the second layer on the second photograph.
In my sample I cut around Jennie and David then cut out the post
separately. Aligning the edges I placed the second layer on top
of the first with foam dots.
4.
The uppermost layer is the foreground. In my photograph
it was Jennie, so I silhouetted that part of the third photograph
then placed it on top of the second layer with foam dots.
5.
The journaling block was made from a torn piece of
white paper. I adhered a slightly larger piece of yellow vellum
over the top then wrote. The journaling block was then attached
to the background.
6.
The title was also made from a photograph, which was
matted then placed on top of the background with foam dots.
TIP:
Save out of focus, or otherwise “not so great” photographs
to use with alphabet punches, etc for great title effects!
