Instructions
1.
To make the louver frame, cut the 8 ½”
x 11” piece of cardstock down to 8” x 10 ¼”.
Cut out a 4 ¾” x 7” rectangular “window”
opening creating a 1 ¾” wide border frame. (You can
use a die to cut out a frame or use dies in various shapes as a
frame.) Once the frame is completed, find the center point of the
long side of the frame opening and make a mark on the backside of
the frame as a reference point. From that reference point, make
a pencil mark every ½ inch along each long side of the frame.
2.
To create the louver strips, cut the coordinating
pattern paper into 2” x 6” strips. Fold each strip in
half horizontally with the wrong sides of the paper pressed together.
Arrange strips in the color order that works best for your design.
3.
Apply adhesive to the back of the frame along the
long sides and begin to create the louvers by placing the first
strip across the frame opening and aligning it with the first pencil
marks at the bottom of the frame. Attach the next strip overlapping
the first and aligning it with the next pencil line. Work from the
top down and the bottom up, keeping the folds of your strips facing
toward the center of the frame. Continue overlapping and adhering
strips until the frame opening is covered. Turn the frame over to
see the louvered effect.
4.
To complete the page, trim the 12 x 12 pattern paper
down to 11 x 11 and mount onto 12 x 12 light blue cardstock. Attach
louvered frame to page, add photos, stickers or other embellishments
and journaling.
